Crazeh Road Trip! or Should I say The Amazing Race

Crazeh Road Trip! or Should I say The Amazing Race
(taken from my friendster account)
Last Thursday, me and my team are supposed to play DoTA in Netopia just outside our office. We thought it was just a little rain but just as we opened the glass doors we were welcomed by great gusts of wind and flying debris. o_o **whoosh…there goes one of the roofs**
I saw some Japanese I think they’re just about to check out the mall but seeing the weather conditions they’re afraid of crossing the bridge from the parking lot to the main building. “Nice weather, eh?” I said aloud. I heard couple of nervous chuckles. I was quite ecstatic at that time because of the strong gusts of wind and maybe because I’m crazy so that reaction is normal. Anyway, we started moving towards the other side of the bridge while dodging some of the flying debris so we can crossover to Netopia (we’re in Mall of Asia BTW). When We got there, our DoTA buddies are just sitting coz the electricity kept fluctuating and the lady there won’t let us play just because of that (<_ 2pm.="2pm." a="a" according="according" at="at" bart="bart" barty="barty" because="because" br="br" buddy="buddy" but="but" caloocan="caloocan" car="car" chewy="chewy" chua="chua" decided="decided" drop="drop" else="else" ere="ere" for="for" get="get" go="go" going="going" gonna="gonna" got="got" harsher="harsher" has="has" have="have" he="he" home="home" i="i" instead="instead" is="is" john="john" just="just" look="look" named="named" now="now" off="off" on="on" our="our" pic:="pic:" planning="planning" play="play" points.="points." respective="respective" s="s" short="short" so="so" someplace="someplace" storm="storm" take="take" teammate="teammate" that="that" the="the" them.="them." to="to" update="update" us="us" volunteered="volunteered" was="was" we="we" weather="weather" went="went" why="why" with="with" y="y">

We were so freakin’ scared that the MOA globe will roll right off and head toward us when we go round it. We decided to take the EDSAroute as it has less flood. And here’s what we saw: Woah and quite a lot of damage that Typhoon Milenyo caused. I saw a lot of trees uprooted from the cement and billboard crashed just like the ones in the picture. In Edsa alone as were cruisin’ to Quezon Ave. we saw 2 buses beneath the billboard. The one is over the Magallanes flyover. I pray nobody died or got major damages from it. We saw a lot of people waiting under the MRT stations, waiting for a ride. We wondered if the MRT has been shut down for safety measures but then we saw the cause:

Neat huh?
So when we got to Quezon Ave. after ooh-ing and aahh-ing at the scenery before us, I asked to be dropped of at C3. Said my goodbyes to the troop and trudged on to where the jeeps are waiting…or so i thought. I stood with my mouth agape at the sight in front of me. WTH! People’s Torsos floating upright??! I squinted and I saw that the people are just wading through waist-high flood O_O. HELL NO WAY I’M GONNA WALK THROUGH THAT!! I decided to just take a jeep to Quiapo so I can just go home to Cavite because I really want to be wiff my bebe in times like this. Unfortunately, EspaƱa was also flooded. The driver braved the two blocks but then he got scared once we got to UST and asked us to just walk the remaining distance T_T. That was another walk to remember. As I walked through the knee-high flood I saw lots of collapsed roofs and a lot of people trying to make a living by guiding people through make-shift bridges (I was already wet but I paid all the same coz’ they said they’ll use it to fix their roof). I don’t know why but I should be very weary already since it’s almost 3pm and I haven’t slept since the day before but my feet are still working their way through the rain. I finally got to Quiapo (on foot /pif) and I rode a jeep to Lawton to try and get home to Cavite. I asked a guy where the bus station is when suddenly a lot of people are running towards where the bus is. I started running too coz’ I got the feeling I won’t be able to get a ride unless I do. Heavens, I was right! Lo and behold people started shoving and pushing just to get a seat on the now emptying bus. I was squished making me think that this is probably how the people at the Wowowee disaster felt when the stampede took place. I was more concerned for the small lady in front of me. I tried to not squish her but people at the back and sides are pushing me mercilessly. I was almost suffocated but thank God I made it inside the bus in one piece (phew!). I screamed for Aircon and good thing the driver complied or else I’ll thrash his bus. I was standing most of the time and I was amazed at the damage the typhoon caused, I saw 2 cars squished by a billboard in Bacoor where Tropical Hut was.

Finally, I got home at 5:00pm and was dripping wet when I arrived at our doorstep. Everything I went through was worth it when my baby walked towards me and hugged her drenched mommy. Amidst the storm that passed, my baby’s smile and simple gestures made my day complete.
